Study rooms and spaces

Each Library site has a number of study rooms and study spaces for group discussions, projects, presentation work, and to participate in online classes.

Booking study rooms

You can book a room using Resource Booker for a maximum of two hours per day, unless otherwise specified. There are no block or weekly bookings.

Study room booking conditions

  • Group bookings only (2 or more people)
  • You can book one room for 2 hours per day
  • You may extend your booking if it is not booked by someone else.
  • If you do not turn up, your booking will expire after 15 minutes.
  • Rooms are not available for use as classrooms.
  • Leave library spaces clean and tidy.
  • If there is an emergency or emergency drill, you must leave the room immediately.
  • Take all your belongings when you finish and don’t leave anything unattended. We will not be responsible if your personal items go missing.

Advance bookings and cancellations

  • You can make bookings up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • You can cancel your bookings at any time.

Help with bookings

  • Ask the Library if you need help with choosing a group study room to suit your needs.
  • For problems with the Resource Booker system, please contact IT Connect.

Online class spaces

There are two Online Class Spaces, one at Bundoora Library and one at Swanston Library. They are designed specifically for you to participate in your online classes. Inside, you’ll find study spaces for using your own device, some spaces contain PCs equipped with webcams.

Booking these spaces is not required. Please wear your headphones while you're participating in your class.

Library rooms by site

There are two group study rooms and a seminar room with seating for 20 people. The seminar room is primarily for Library workshops and for student bookings at other times during semester.

There are twelve group study rooms divided between three floors. Two silent study rooms are located on Level 3.

The Online Class Space is available on level 3 (210.03.023). Bring your own laptop and headphones.

There are 17 rooms for group study on Levels 5 and 6.

The Online Class Space is available in building 12, level 5 (012.05.103). PCs are available but bring your own headphones.

RMIT staff please note that the Library rooms are for student use, they are not available as general teaching or meeting spaces. Staff can book meeting and teaching spaces with Property Services (login required).
