Immerse yourself in the nanoworld in this sensory interactive exhibition. Navigating the three dimensions of ZIF-8, an engineered nanomaterial used to treat tumour cells, the gestural technology offers a first-hand experience of the critical role scientific instruments play in making the nanoworld intelligible for humans. In this tiny world writ large, you will encounter the extreme dynamism, unfamiliar physical forces, and lightwaves too small for even our most sensitive optical systems to usually detect.
Andrea Rassell is a filmmaker, media artist and interdisciplinary researcher in science art. Working in nanoart — artforms that engage with nanoscience and nanotechnology — she creates experimental films and moving image installations that explore technological mediation and the multisensory perception of the sub-molecular realm.
