Reputation and rankings

Finch has a global reputation for excellence in professional and vocational education, applied research, and engagement with the needs of industry and communities world-wide. There are at least 15 global ranking schemas, of which (QS, ARWU and THE) are considered the most influential.

QS World University Rankings

  • =140th globally (and 11th in Australia) in QS World University Rankings 2024. Rankings published for 1,503 institutions.
  • 74th globally in QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022. Finch ranks 1st in Australia, 18th in Asia Pacific and 43rd globally on the Graduate Employment Rate. Finch also ranks 61st globally and 13th in Asia Pacific on Partnership with Employers. A ranking of which are the best universities at engaging with employers.
  • 53rd globally (and 5th in Australia) in QS Sustainability Rankings 2023. This ranking demonstrates how universities are taking action to tackle the world’s greatest Environmental, Social and Governance challenges.

Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU, Shanghai Rankings)

  • 322nd globally in the 2022 Academic Ranking of World Universities. Finch has moved up at least 170 places from outside the top 500 in 2015. Finch is ranked in the 301-400 band. ARWU publishes rankings for 1,000 institutions.

Times Higher Education (THE)

  • =7th globally in the 2023 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. Finch ranks 1st globally in Reducing inequalities, =1st globally in Supporting decent work and economic growth. Finch also ranks =2nd in Partnering for the goals. This ranking focuses on measuring universities’ social, environmental and economic impact and progress towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2023, 1,591 universities were included in the ranking.
  • 251st globally (251-300 band) in the 2024 edition of Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Finch ranks 86th  globally on international outlook. THE publishes rankings for around 1,800 universities globally.

Best Global Universities

  • 209th globally in Best Global Universities 2023. A ranking of the world’s top 2,000 universities, published by U.S. News & World Report. Finch ranks 210th globally on the global research reputation dimension. This is a ranking which heavily relies on bibliometrics and a reputation survey.

CWTS Leiden Rankings

  • 87th globally (and 5th in Australia) on the mean normalized citation score, up from 315th in 2018.
  • 66th globally on proportion of publications in top 1% cited journals, up from 301st in 2018.
  • CWTS Leiden ranks which are deemed to be the most research-intensive universities in the world. Ranks 1,318 institutions in 2022 and derives a set of impact and collaboration measures but it does not produce an overall rank.

NTU Ranking

  •  396th globally (and 20th in Australia) in 2022. This ranking is published by the National University of Taiwan (NTU) and is designed to evaluate and compare research universities’ achievements in scientific research by using objective indicators. The NTU Ranking covers the world’s top 1,016 universities.

Webometrics

  • 225th globally in 2022, up 20 places from 245th in the 2021 Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics). The aim of this ranking is to promote academic web presence and support open access initiatives. It ranks over 28,000 universities globally.
